Green, Brown and Coral St Patrick's Day

This year's St. Patrick's Day cards are a little bit different for me. I didn't want to try and create shamrocks with hearts again, so decided to just make a card with a green and orange theme - although the orange turned into a more coral-orange colour.

Three strips of the green flourish border paper from the K&Co Roam paper pad were matted onto brown paper and then onto green paper. A length of coral picot-edge organza ribbon, from the Chatterbox Tangerine ribbon pack, was then wrapped around the panel and attached to the card blank.

A flower was die cut from the coral brushstroke paper from the same paper pad using the Flowers, Daisies #2 Sizzix Bigz die and layered up with a scalloped circle and a computer-generated circle sentiment die cut with a standard circle die, both Nestabilities.

The flower embellishment was then added over the ribbon.

The sentiment circle was created thanks to a great tutorial by Karen/Redrottie over on her blog. However, thanks to an empty ink cartridge, my printer refused to work so the file was sent to work with my hubby but I forgot that the font I'd used wouldn't necessarily be on his computer so they didn't look like they should have done. Typical!

Green and Orange Shamrock Gatefold

Here is the card I made for St Patrick's Day this year. It is also my entry to this week's Stamp Something Challenge, which this week is Distressing.


I started by creating the small gatefold card from white textured card and the panels from orange card and the green heart stems paper from the Papermania Olivine Essences Creative Tones paper pad. A strip of the green heart stems floral border paper was matted onto a strip of the orange card and matted across the panels. All the papers were distressed using Tim Holtz Distress inks in Peeled Paint and Frayed Burlap and the orange card with the Frayed Burlap.

The Shamrock circle image from the Studio G Dovecraft mini Good Luck stamp set was stamped using Versafine Spanish Moss archival pigment ink in the centre of a Nestabilities die cut circle and the dots were pierced with a piercing tool.

The edges of the circle were coloured using Tim Holtz Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters and Frayed Burlap Distress inks. This was then matted onto a circle of green paper. Rosewood and Golden White metallic rub-ons by Craf-T were then added to the edges of the Shamrock and green circles.

A scalloped circle was cut from orange card and embossed using the Cuttlebug Herringbone embossing folder. The two colours of metallic rub-ons were rubbed over the raised detail and the smaller circles were adhered to the centre.

The edges of the card were coloured with the Peeled Paint distress ink and the scalloped circle was attached to the left side of the gatefold card.

Green Embossed Shamrock For St Patrick's Day

Here is my creation to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Not a day I used to celebrate before I met my dear hubby, who, although born in England, grew up in Dublin and has an Irish grandfather.
(His dad played rugby union for Ireland too!)


A strip of the green vine paper from the Papermania Spring Burst paper pad was matted onto a strip of lime green card from the Papermania Textured card pack.

Three hearts were cut from green paper from the K&Co Sparkly Sweet paper pad using the Heart, Star and Tag Sizzlet die. These were then embossed using the Ellison Dots embossing folder.

These were attached to a square of white card with a stalk cut from the same green paper. This was also matted onto the lime green card.

The sentiment was computer generated using the Gaelige font and matted onto the lime green card.
