WELCOME

This blog was created to act as a record of the cards and other projects that I have made. It is for both my own reference and to help inspire anyone who wants to take a look.

I'd love it if you'd leave me a comment so that I know what you think of my projects and that you've been to visit!

Anyone can comment, even those who don't have a blog. (Just look for the word 'Comments' under the three little pictures at the end of each post). Readers without a blog can add an anonymous comment, but please leave your name (and docrafts username if applicable) so I know who you are!

Slideshows of all the cards I've uploaded to my blog can be found at the bottom of the page.

30 Day Colour Challenge - Day #4

Well, it's still technically Day #4 as Day #5 hasn't been announced yet!!!
Anyway, here is today's colouring.

I decided to go with some WHSmith's pencils today on Kraft cardstock. It's a nice and simple New Home card for a friend of mine.

I decided to use my set of Jofy #15 stamps that I've had for well over a month now, if not a few months. They have been used, just not by me!!!

I started by stamping the smaller of the two birdhouses on the front of the card where I wanted it positioned, using Versafine Vintage Sepia archival pigment ink, and then stamped the branch image from the same stamp set and the same ink above it. I joined the two images with a brown Whispers brushstroke marker.

I then coloured the images with the WHSmith pencils that I managed to get when they were reduced down to £3.99 some months ago. I firstly laid down a layer of white pencil all over the image and then coloured it in with the colours. Hopefully the white makes the colours ping off the card a bit more. I decided not to blend the pencil with baby oil this time as I wanted a more rustic look to the image.

Finally I added the 'New Home' sentiment. I used an old Elzybells stamp for this and the Vintage Sepia ink. This is a stamp that I've owned for many years, from back when Elzybells were having a closing down sale, and I'm not entirely sure it's ever been inked up other than when I recently mounted it and created a laminated storage sheet for it. It's so nice to give these old stamps a new lease of life having been living in a 'to be mounted' box for a couple of years now.

Blue and Brown Father's Day Sugar Nellie Knight

Here is the design of this year's Father's Day cards that I've made for my dad and hubby's dad. I decided to go with the Sugar Nellie Knight image.

The image was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink and coloured using Copic sketch markers:
  • Armour: C0, C1, C3, C4, C6
  • Sword: C2, C4, C6
  • Skin: E00, E13, E21, E51
  • Shield: W1, W3, W5, W7, B32, B34, B37, B39, E31, E33, E35
  • Feather: B32, B34, B37, B39
  • Shadow: W1, W3, W5
Somehow I actually managed to get the armour and shield to look quite metallic and shiny!!

The corners were rounded using the large XCut corner rounder punch and matted onto bronze shimmer paper and navy card.

A panel of the Jute paper from the Basic Grey Granola paper pad was matted onto the navy card, punched with the XCut Diamonds border punch.

I wanted to add an element of texture but also keep it masculine, so four holes were punched using the Cropodile Big Bite and the Stampin' Up Mat Pack template and small dark blue Papermania eyelets were added. The holes were then threaded with a double strand of tan hemp cord from Hobbycraft.

The card was assembled and the 'Happy Father's Day' sentiment, from Elzybells, was stamped in the corner using Versafine Majestic Blue archival pigment ink.

Pink and Kraft Flower Horace

Well, I finally managed to struggle my way into my craft room - avoiding the obstacle course on the floor (just about) and managed to get a few cards made. Top of my immediate-need list was a card for a young girl, so I decided to use the lovely cute Horace stamp that I got free from the April 2010 Craft Stamper magazine.

The Horace image, from Pink Gem/Craft Stamper, was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with Copic sketch markers:
  • Dog: E31, E33, E35
The image was then die cut using a classic circle Nestabilities die and the edge coloured using RV19 Copic sketch marker and matted onto a big scalloped circle die cut from the pink stripe paper from the Daisy and Dandelion Picnic Patch paper pad. The edges were coloured using ColorBox Orchid Pastel Fluid Chalk ink and then matted onto a dark pink panel die cut using a Labels 3 Nestabilities die.

A strip of the pink daisy paper, from the same paper pad, was punched using the XCut Scallop border punch and the edges coloured using the Orchid Pastel ink and matted onto a punched panel of the dark pink card.

A white Prima paper flower was coloured using a Copic marker (E31) and added to the Labels shape. Pink flower gems from Papermania were added to the image and the centre of the paper flower.

The sentiment, from the Papermania Clare Curd Sentiments stamp set, was stamped at the bottom of the card blank using Adirondack Raspberry dye ink.
