New Watercolouring Tutorial

I just discovered this watercolouring tutorial and thought I should share it with you all!!

It is using watercolouring cakes but I'm sre the same techniques can be used with distress inks or marker pens if applied to a non-porous surface as a palette.

The tutorial is done by Lisa Hindsley, the Art Director at Stampendous and here is the card that she produces.

Shabby Fabric Flowers Tutorial

I flagged up this amazing tutorial for making shabby fabric flowers over on the docrafts forum the other day and it went down a treat. I thought I had better add the link here on my blog so that I will be able to find it again in the future when I am brave enought to try making one of them myself!!

I really should point out that I haven't made this tutorial, but it is the work of the very talented Roben-Marie.

I've just discovered a new-to-me blog from a lovely lady called Kylie from down-under.

Her cards are lovely and she has a great tutorial for colouring in things  that are white using the Copic markers.

Tutorial For Watercolouring Images With Markers

I have discovered a new tutorial for watercolouring with marker pens. This tutorial shows how to watercolour by adding the colour directly to watercolour paper. The tutorial is very easy to follow, with numbered step-by-steps with photographs to see exactly what to do.

The card created is beautiful and I'd recommend a trip to see Laurie's blog to see her wonderful creations.

I've just been directed to another great tutorial using Tim Holtz Distress Inks, written and illustrated by the great Janet Roberts over at Pink Gem Designs.

I've just found another great tutorial for watercolouring using the Distress Inks.

I've Finally Treated Myself To A Set Of Copics!

I'm sure some of you are aware that I've been talking about treating myself to a set of Copics for the best part of twelve months now. Well, I finally clicked on the 'Confirm Order' button on Tuesday (with much heart pounding and hyperventilating - I don't cope well spending that much money!)

Anyway, I've got a lovely set of 72 Sketch markers (set B) winging their way here, so with a bit of luck I'll actually be able to use them (effectively!)

I've spent the last couple of days watching various Copic Tutorials on YouTube, mostly by a very talented lady who goes by SuzanneJDean. (She also has an amazing blog here). Now of course she uses a different technique to that shown to me by the equally talented Alex, so I'm sure it will take a bit of practice to see which technique works for me.

Now, originally I was going to order my Copics directly from Japan, as they were quite a lot cheaper over there. But, I figured with my luck, I'd get hit by customs so chickened out! I actually bought them from Amazon. Make sure you do your homework though because there's a huge difference in price for the same set of pens depending on where you look online!!

I've managed to print off the Copic Colour Chart in anticipation of my pens arriving. Unfortunately, I don't think they'll be here until next week!! BOO!! :-(

Well, better go and stock up on Memento ink. If anyone can think of anything else I need to 'invest' in, please let me know! (Other than sets A, C and D!)

"Awesome" new site for tutorial videos

I happened across this site following a recommendation over on the Splitcoaststampers forum.

The site is the creation of Ann Clemmer. The video that was recommended was one for making your own mock-croc background paper.

I was only thinking the other day that it would be good if Cuttlebug made an embossing folder to create this look, but I love the technique shown on this video. I highly recommend it!

Creating A Frame Using Corner Punches

I have come across a great tutorial using corner punches to make a frame over on Becca's blog.

The effects are great and she explains it really well.

I think you will need a corner punch where you can remove the wings to use it as a normal punch to create this effect.

Autumn Leaves Ticket Stamps Tutorial

I recently purchased this set of stamps and I know they are increasingly popular.

I have discovered a great tutorial over on Aud's blog explaining a great way of making them look more like tickets.

I've just found a new watercolouring tutorial over on Wendy Todd's blog.

She's an Australian Stampin' Up demonstrator, and has a great tutorial, especially showing how to add shading.

Some New Colouring Tutorials

I received the Splitcoaststampers (SCS) newsletter, 'The Weely Inkling', this morning and, having read it, came across a great SCS blog that includes some great colouring tutorials including a couple of techniques I've never heard of but wouldn't mind trying.


The SCS member in question is Leslierich, and her colouring tutorials can be found here. She has tutorials on watercolouring with markers, chalks, pencils over inks, sponged watercolour backgrounds and watercolouring with H2Os. I'm sure she'll teach you at least one new technique.

Make Your Own 'Prima-like' Flowers

A tutorial was flagged up over on the docrafts cardmaking forum and I thought not only will I bookmark it on here for my own future reference but would share it with the rest of you.

The very clever lady, Joannne, has worked out how to make your own 'Prima-like' flowers using some very basic tools, namely some handmade/mulberry paper, a scallop punch or die cut, scissors and an embossing tool.

This is a picture of the finished product and I can't see much difference between this and the more expensive bought variety.

Watercolouring Tutorials

A few months ago I found a couple of tutorials on how to watercolour your stamped images. I found them very informative, as did a lot of people on the docrafts forum where I flagged up the web addresses for them.

I've decided to add them to my blog for a couple of reasons. The first is so I can easily access them without having to keep referring back to my original posting on the docrafts forum and the second is so everyone else can easily access the without having to trawl through the forum trying to find them.

So, the first one was found on the High Hopes stamps website, and can be found here.

The second was on the Paper Pleasing Ideas blog from Julie Buhler here.

They show two different watercolouring techniques and are most informative giving beautiful results.

A Tutorial: Watercolouring With Distress Inks

I was recently pointed in the direction of Mar1ene's wonderful blog. She's a very talented cardmaker, and I've just found a great tutorial showing how to watercolour using the great Distress Inks from Ranger.

Distressing Tutorial

The lovely Debs (MeandLilG over at Docrafts) has put together a great tutorial on distressing the edges of paper.

The cards that she has made using this technique are absolutely beautiful and I've added a couple of examples here to showcase them (and to remind me to use this technique because I love it!)
